Two layers of safety
1. Your phone's built-in emergency system (PRIMARY) — Emergency SOS, crash detection, emergency contacts.
2. SOS Community Alert app (SECONDARY) — Notifies your Discord riding community. Does NOT replace emergency services.
📱 Step 1 — Set up native emergency contacts (CRITICAL)
iPhone
- Health app → Profile → Medical ID → Edit
- Add emergency contacts; enable Show When Locked
- Enable Emergency SOS and Crash Detection in Settings
Android
- Settings → Safety & Emergency → Emergency Contacts
- Enable Emergency SOS and Car Crash Detection if available
📲 Step 2 — Download SOS Community Alert app
Download links will be added here when the first build is ready.
- Android: Download APK from this page (link coming soon)
- iPhone: Install via TestFlight invite link (requires Apple Developer setup)
Do not use Expo Go. Install the official community app build only.
⚙️ Step 3 — App first-run setup
When you open the app for the first time:
- Read and accept the Legal Disclaimer
- Review Permissions & Data — grant location (Always recommended) and notifications
- Enter your Relay URL and Relay token from your Discord admin (
/setup-sos)
- Enter your Discord user ID and display name
- Send a test alert — confirm it appears in Discord

🔐 Step 4 — Phone permissions (after install)
- Location → Allow all the time — required for drive monitoring with screen off
- Notifications → Allow — drive status and crash countdown
- Battery → Unrestricted (Android) — don't optimize the app

💬 Step 5 — Discord admin setup (one-time)
Server admins run /setup-sos in Discord to configure channels and generate the relay token for off-road drivers.
Channels: sos-emergency-alert, non-emergency-help-requested, test, responding

Never test in live emergency channels.
⚠️ Final notice
- Community support tool only — call 999 / 998 for emergencies
- Do not rely solely on Discord alerts
- False alerts may result in removal from the community
